Sinfonia Spirituosa celebrates its return to live California performances with a program titled “Ritournelle—The Return”. Telemann is featured in our namesake piece, and in his Ouverture-Suite, which spotlights outstanding gamba soloist Eva Lymenstull. The unusual instrumentation of two violins and two cellos in Couperin’s amazingly lush La Sultane, the elegant and entertaining dances of Lully’s Music for the King’s Supper, and the sumptuous, playful and fiery movements from Rameau’s operas display this ensemble’s passion for French music from this period.
